Bibliography
During the two years I spent researching and writing "Voyage of Rediscovery," the following books made their way onto my office bookshelves. Some literally guided me along the trail, some supplied critical background information on the Corps of Discovery, and others taught me about the human and natural history of the landscape Lewis and Clark explored. Whether providing pertinent facts or just helping shape my perception of the expedition and its role in American history, the books on this list gave me countless hours of enjoyable reading in motel rooms and camp sites along the trail, as well as at my desk before and after my three-month journey across the West. I offer this bibliography as an aid to readers wishing to delve more deeply into any aspect of the subject - or to those who are preparing for their own voyages of rediscovery.
